What is our Objective?

• Put someone in power to allow Elturel to return to the Realms
• Convince Zariel to return Elturel to the Realms
  • Allow Lulu to speak to her
  • Use force or reason
  • Could making someone else Mayor and nulling the contract?
  • Use the wording "Oath Bound Defenders" in the contract against her.
  • Bring other forces against her to break the Elturel contract

What is going on?  What could be happening?

• Not having the power to clear all of Avernus of all devils and demons, Zariel seizes power to keep the Blood War from spilling over to the Forgotten Realms. 
  • Why the need to bring Elturel to Avernus?  Why did the Mayor sign the deal?  What forces are in play?
    • The Tomb of the HellRiders explains a lot.  The reverence of the tomb makes us this she has something against Elturel.  We think that since there are Hellriders in Elturel some of her forces retreated and left the battle, causing her to lose her battle in hell. She never forgave them.
• One of the many factions wants to rule Avernus and may have brought Elturel to Avernus to force more Chaos into the plane.  Maybe shaking power loose from Zariel.
• Why have we not seen Zariel?  Is she alive?
  • She is alive and well.  Shapeshifting and sneaky we need to be on our toes.

Thavius Kreegs Contract

The contract between Thavius Kreeg and Zariel commits Elturel and all its citizens to fight in The Blood War. It is written on nine square plates of infernal iron, each three inches on a side.

“Be it known to all that I, Thavius Kreeg, High Overseer of Elturel, have sworn to my master, Zariel, lord of Avernus, to keep the agreements contained in this oath.

I hereby submit to Zariel in all matters and for all time. I will place Her above all creatures, living and dead. I will obey Her all my days and beyond with fear and servility.

I recognize the dispensation of the device called the Solar Insidiator, hereafter called the Companion. In my capacity as High Overseer of Elturel and its vassal territories, I acknowledge that all lands falling under the light of the Companion are forfeit to Zariel. All persons bound by oath to defend Elturel are also considered forfeit. I further recognize that this dispensation will last fifty years, after which the Companion will return whence it came, taking Elturel and its oath-bound defenders with it, if that is Zariel’s wish.

All this is my everlasting pledge."
